D'Angelo's Pricing
As previously discussed in earlier meetings, we primarily use the services of D'Angelo Bros. to service our mains, valves and hydrants. Why some people ask? D'Angelo's is the most well equipped company in the area. They own their own equipment (as opposed to another contractor having to rent equipment). They also have everything necessary on-site at their 8 mile location in Livonia to service anything we may need. We've tried other contractors in the past and if the issue was on the weekend, they couldn't help us as they had to wait till Monday to rent equipment or get aggregate from a yard. D'Angelo's also services all of Oakland County. They may look expensive, but they know our system and they have always been able to address anything we need rather quickly. Listed below is the rate table used to calculate our bills, today and as you see into the future. A typical job takes 4-6 hours. Immediately below is a list of typical lines applicable to jobs in our sub when there are water main breaks.
1. We always have to pay a mobilization fee. If two jobs are done at the same time, we pay the fee once.
2. Some sort of excavator. We typically get "306" or "308", depends on the availability and job*
3. Operator. The person running the excavator.*
4. Labor. Usually 3-5 people. They do the fine digging, operating the valves, getting muddy.*
5. Tri-Axle Dump Truck - This generally brings the gravel**
6. Service Truck - They drive around and operate the valves.*
7. Compaction - After the repair, pack it all down so we don't get a crater months later.*
8. Pump - Pumps water out as they repair
9. Generator - Powers the pump and other tools
10. Materials - Usually a clamp for the repair, and aggregate to back fill.
